Our Tote
$36.00
OUR culture. OUR life. OUR dream. OUR art.
This inaugural tote is the first physical artifact from Coloura Collective. Before opening the doors to BIPOC creatives, we wanted to build the table, set it by hand, and test its legs ourselves. When you carry it, you aren’t just carrying canvas; you’re carrying proof of what two ordinary people can build when they care about community more than extraction.
The Craft & Details
We chose not to touch cheap, throwaway promo blanks. If you’re going to carry the weight of a collective, the bag needs to hold up to real life.
Fabric: 100% Certified Organic Cotton Canvas. Heavyweight, structured, and durable enough for market hauls, heavy art supplies, laptops, and thick books.
Printing: Hand-screen printed locally in Chicagoland by an independent print shop. Because each piece is hand-pulled in small batches, subtle variations make every single bag one-of-a-kind.
Construction: Reinforced shoulder straps with cross-stitching at high-stress points to prevent tearing under heavy loads.
Edition: Limited soft-launch run. Once this batch is gone, it’s retired.
Where Your $36 Goes
True reciprocity means being honest about the supply chain. Your purchase directly supports:
Local Printers: Fair wages paid upfront to the neighborhood craftspeople who hand-pulled this run.
Global Mutual Aid (DRC Offset): We acknowledge that running a digital platform relies on technology powered by minerals like coltan and cobalt. A portion of every bag sold goes directly to grassroots mutual aid efforts in the Democratic Republic of Congo to reckon with and begin offsetting that digital footprint.
The Collective Infrastructure: The remaining proceeds seed the platform fund—covering hosting, Dokan software licenses, and the foundational resources we need to launch and protect our next cohort of BIPOC creators.
Care Instructions
Treat it with care so it lasts for years. Spot clean when possible. If machine washing is needed, wash cold inside out with like colors and hang dry to preserve the natural organic cotton fibers and hand-printed ink. Do not iron directly over the print.
